A New Tip!

Ok, here is another idea to use that stash! Any of you have clothespins? I think they are so practical, and inexpensive of course. I never use them to hang clothes (anyone do that anymore?) but I do use them for some other things... let me show you!

Thing No. 1.

This magnet is made from a clothespin that I decoupaged paper too. That is a fancy way for saying glued and then brushed the glue on the top of the paper to seal it. Then I hot-glued a round magnet to the back. So easy! So fast! I have a set in my shop.

Thing No. 2

This is a tea wreath. I hot glued some of my fancy clothespins to a round piece of cardboard that I covered with some fun paper. I decoupaged that too so that the paper would be sealed in case anyone drinking tea dribbled a little on the wreath, cause you know those tea drinkers.

Thing No. 3

Here I used some ribbon from my stash and wrapped it around the shelf above my sewing and craft table. I used my fancy clothespins to attach some inspiration for me to look at while I work at my desk.

Can you think of any other great uses for these beauties?

Rustic Decorating Tip

This tip isn't necessarily using craft supplies stashed in the closets, but it is using something found in most kitchens for a beautiful, practical and inexpensive decorating item.

Check it out!

Living in Alaska we have a lot of salmon. I canned some salmon this summer and used these wide mouth jars to do it. So as we have eaten the salmon I have more of these fun jars to play with. I thought I could put a tea light in there and have an instant, cute, sparkly and rustic arrangement on my counter.

So dig around in those kitchen cupboards for some nice glass tea light holders!

Stashbuster tip #2

As I mentioned in the last post, my son is turning 2 in a few weeks. We are throwing him a football party and I wanted to make some personalized decorations. This is great because it can be used in a scrapbook later on as well. This is so easy and quick, come on, let's do it!

You need:
paper
stickers (letters and decoration)

Put them all together... and, TaDah!

That's it guys! Seriously so easy! All it takes is looking in that stash and being creative... or not, just slap some fun stickers with your kids name and it will be adorable.

Hint! Personalize those back to school items like spiral bound notebooks and binders with your stash. Your child will love it!

Using your stash!

I've decided to do a series of blog posts about making fun and creative items for your home using what you already have stashed in those closets and craft bins! I knowthat I have a closet full of craft items that I need to use instead of going to the store and buying more stuff!

My son is turning 2 in a few weeks, so my first project is to make some fun boy birthday decorations for the party that I can use again in his playroom when the party is over. My goal for all these projects is to 1. use what I have and 2. be quick!

What you need:
Fun paper
Ribbon
glue
scissors

First I picked out some of my favorite patterns from some boy themed scrapbook paper I was given as a gift.

I used some of those old-school scissors that cut in a zig-zag or wavy line to make a triangle.

Then I glued a scrap of chocolate brown gross-grain ribbon across the top of my 11 cut out triangles

Ta Dah!

A fun, inexpensive, stash-busting, adorable decoration for a party, playroom or bedroom.
