Charm Pack Coasters

Happy Friday everyone!  I made a set of coasters yesterday.  I was looking for things to make with the leftover half square triangles from my Sophie charm pack and thought this would be a good addition to my house.  The current coasters we have are glass and Little kid E likes to pretend they are toast... so you see I really needed new coasters and these are reversible which is fun.

Super E cape

Little kid E is really into superheros.  Right now his favorite guy is Ironman and he's saving his piggy bank money for Thor.  On Saturday I decided to whip up this little cape and it turns out he loved it!  I thought he would ;).  Since I used my nice Kona for the blue, I didn't want to make it too big - so next time I'm at wal-mart I'll get some good solid cheap, I mean inexpensive yardage and make him a nice big one... maybe in red like Thor has ;).  Until then, he's a big fan of this one.

Problem Solving

My friend had a problem.  Her cup was sweating.  So I said that I could help fix her sweaty cup.

I had 3 half square triangles left over from the baby lovie, so sewed them together, added some hot pink terry cloth to the back, some grey elastic and a vintage button and wah la!  A water cup cozy, or water cup towel or water cup soaker or water cup sweat mop... well whatever - you get the idea!

I've linked up to a bunch of Monday Linky parties... so be sure to check them out on the right side of my site you can see all the buttons!

Quilted Baby Lovie

My new friend had a baby yesterday.  We are going to visit her today, and I wanted to bring something along as a little baby gift.  I had a charm pack hanging around that I thought she would like, so I decided to make a little baby lovie using some half square triangles and a soft minky backing.

The first half

Hey Everyone!  Yesterday I was able to complete the left half of Eli's Tower quilt top....along with 6 loads of laundry ;).  Here it is!  This was the plan... here.  Excited to get to the second half this week!  Happy Tuesday!

Can you tell which one he likes best??

Hmmmm

Well friends, we're all friends here right?  Then you can tell me what you really think of this wreath.  I'm not sure about it.  I don't love it, that's for sure - which is a bummer cause I spent waaaaay too much time on this if that's the case.  But I don't think I hate it.  I feel like it needs more (like flowers) but less at the same time since the crochet is complicated and varied.  Anyway, here it is.

I used all scraps of yarn I already had, so all I had to buy was the wreath form.  I put batting around it, wrapped it in ivory yarn and then created the crocheted strips with various techniques.

Maybe I should stick to sewing lol!  I'm headed to the craft store today, so maybe I'll pick up another form and try something else that feels a little more modern and that I Love!  Anyway, happy Saturday!

9/11

Yesterday was 9/11.  It's strange to think it's been 10 years.  I was a Junior in High School when it all happened.  9/11 is part of the reason my husband joined the army and the main reason behind Iraq and Afghanistan.  It's the reason he was gone for a year fighting for our country to remain free.  So 9/11 is a big deal for us.  Not to mention it's Little Kid E's birthday!  He turned 3 yesterday ;).

Working on a fall wreath today!  wrapping that thing in yarn took a little longer than I thought.  Happy Monday!

Supercool!

Here is a peek on Eli's Tower Quilt progress.  This is the left side, its not complete, I've got 5-7 more rows to cut but here it is so far.

Little kid E saw me working on it and he asked what it was.  I told him it was a blanket I was making for him like I made for baby sister.  He was so excited!  He looked at the design wall and said, "It's fun!  Supercool Mom!  I like that one and that one and that one."  His favorite was the Toy Story fabric of course ;).  Glad to know he likes it!

Personality

Hey Everyone!  Did you have a great holiday weekend?  We had a fun time at the beach, a church picnic and some friends for dinner.  What did you do?  I thought I'd do a post with a little personality in it since I mostly post about sewing and design stuff.

Here is me.. I took this picture in my dining room one day last week around lunchtime.  Sorry for my yellow lighting, but hey - its old Army housing so I make do ;).

Here is Baby A hanging out on the Japanese Baby Squares Quilt I made for her this past spring.  We had just gotten home from her 2 month well baby check up where she got some shots ;(.  She will be 3 months old in 2 days.  She's pretty cute.

Here is Little Kid E.  He turns 3 on Sunday.  He is the sweetest big brother and rowdy little man.  He cannot wait for football season and he loves to wrestle and play swords with Daddy.

These 2 munchkins keep me pretty busy, and with my free time I love to sew and create, keep my home and hang out with my family and go to the beach as often as possible.

I'm off to get some laundry started, participate in #talknt on twitter and do the dishes!

I've started Eli's Tower Quilt... pretty excited about it.  Hoping to get some more done so I can show you!
